You will apply your engineering skills to projects involving dams, landfills, water waste containment systems; slope stability & civil site design; forensic investigations & litigation support; geotechnical instrumentation & monitoring; numerical analysis of stability & deformation; and geohazard/earthquake characterization/mitigation.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Geotechnical instrumentation monitoring;
Dam and levee evaluations;
Monitoring heavy civil and geotechnical construction projects;
Conducting geotechnical field investigations;
Installing geotechnical instrumentation;
Performing and reviewing engineering calculations;
Landfill and closure design and permitting;

Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. Fieldwork: The candidate is expected to relocate to a construction site near Johnson City, TN for up to 3 years; then up to 15%.
Overnight travel: Up to 10% including travel to client sites and Geosyntec offices.

BS degree in civil, geotechnical. or geological engineering (preferred) or geology, with demonstrated experience in geotechnical engineering projects. (acceptable)
Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
At least 2 years of experience in geotechnical engineering-related projects. (required)
Demonstrated strong interest in geotechnical engineering. (required)
Experience with construction quality assurance and/or construction management services. (preferred)
Experience with overseeing geotechnical investigations including borings, cone penetration tests, and instrumentation installation. (preferred)
Experience with modeling/design tools such as AUTOCAD, SLIDE, Slope/W, Vadose/W, Sigma/W, FLAC, and ARCGIS. (preferred)
Ability to obtain professional engineering (P.E.) license registration within 2-4 years. (required)
Strong verbal and technical writing skills. (required)
Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. (required)
