Business Development Manager - Skyline Steel

Skyline Steel is North America’s largest steel foundation construction products company, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Nucor Corporation (NUE), North America’s largest steel manufacturer. Skyline’s Business Development team is responsible for identifying and developing strategic opportunities for growth of the market for steel foundation products.

Skyline Steel is looking for a Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our North American Business Development team. This opportunity is based in the greater Seattle area, and the representative is responsible for covering the Pacific Northwest and Western Canadian territories. The role is suited for a civil, structural, or geotechnical engineer looking for a new challenge, an opportunity to get away from their desk, and a chance to partner with their clients to develop innovative solutions. The successful BDM will apply their technical and industry expertise to educate and influence engineers, architects, developers, public agencies, and contractors on the advantages of Skyline Steel’s foundation solutions.

This is not a quota-based sales position.

Key Responsibilities for a Skyline Steel BDM Include:

Maintain a thorough technical understanding of the design, applications, and manufacturing processes of Skyline Steel products.

Monitor the regional competitive landscape and develop initiatives to address the regional market growth opportunities.

Develop and manage value-engineered proposals in close collaboration with client project engineers and general contractors.

Build deep relationships with Skyline Steel’s clients based on a foundation of teamwork, trust, and mutual support. This is fundamental to a BDM’s success and ability to influence our clients.

Educate industry clients on the use of Skyline’s products, including frequent presentations at client offices (Lunch & Learns) or at industry conferences.

Travel to visit client offices for general introductions, project meetings, educational presentations, conferences, and more. Travel could be up to 70%.

Understand the fundamentals of the construction process for private and public clients, from concept to project completion.

Support of the regional outside sales team on technical submittals or other technical project challenges, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

BS in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering

5+ years of construction industry experience

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Excellent presentation skills

Valid US Passport or the ability to obtain one immediately

Preferred Qualifications:

P.E. license in WA State or the ability to obtain a license within one year

Experience with the design and construction of steel foundations

Experience drafting basic AutoCAD drawings
