Our expanding Newcastle office is recruiting for a structural engineer to work across numerous local, regional and national projects, that includes transport structures, specifically bridges as well as general civil, industrial and mining structures. Your technical skills in structures and your sound judgement and initiative will ensure your success as you integrate into a strong national bridge and structures practice area already existing within Jacobs.. On a day to day basis, the focus will be on delivering high levels of client satisfaction for a range of clients.
You will work across structural design tasks, where you will be providing inputs to project works and tender bids, along with overseeing project delivery that will include design only and design and construct delivery models. You will provide preliminary and concept structural designs for infrastructure projects as well as specialist support for multi-disciplinary projects, managing the structural design of bridges and culverts, retaining walls and noise walls along with gantries and overhead support structures. You will need to ensure designs and drawings are developed in accordance with relevant authority/Australian Standards and other guidelines.
This position will develop innovative design solutions and apply best practice design. You will be expected to liaise with drafters for the production of the design drawings along with the preparation of design reports and provide construction phase support in responding to contractor comments and site issues.
This is a collaborative role where you will work closely with other members of the Newcastle Transport and Sydney Transport Structures engineering sections. Experience across these sectors will enable you to build upon existing skills that you have developed during several years in the planning, design and construction of infrastructure structures.
