Position Summary

Responsible for technical direction and production of project work, as assigned by the Piping Squad leader with a high degree of competency.


  • Provide leadership, as a strong second in command to the piping lead
  • Must have the knowledge to complete and fully understand the essence of the DBM and EDS DE deliverables
  • Provide assistance in controlling and coordinating information as it applies to the Piping task force on a project, including review of project scope
  • Participate in conceptual design studies
  • Participate in the development and preparation of Piping design specifications and P&ID's
  • Provide technical guidance to other design and drafting staff
  • Ensure work area of responsibility follows the departmental design guides and work instructions
  • Assist in the preparation of estimates (including man-hour estimates), change requests, and trends
  • Participate in site visits to collect information
  • Coordination of information and activities for assigned areas, including vendor and in-house coordination prints with other engineering disciplines
  • Participate in vendor document review meetings
  • Preparation of and participation in 3D model reviews
  • Develop/assist with the development of project specific CADD system setup requirements and coordinate with our Design Technology Services group regarding an effective implementation
  • Advise on methods and techniques for improving design/drafting quality and productivity of the drafting group
  • Employee development and mentoring




  • Recognized Diploma in Engineering Drafting with Piping Design or equivalent required
  • 10+ years for Sr. Piping Designer with extensive working experience in AVEVA PDMS software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Computer literacy in corporate CADD and spreadsheet software required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities required
  • Field experience would be preferred
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred
