The Structural Engineering Technician provides technical assistance to the Structural Engineering department and testing laboratory across all product lines. Communicates technical information about products and features to external customers as well as internal departments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

% TimeJob Responsibilities

70%Provide technical support and information on all Simpson products, software and services to internal and external customers including specifiers, building officials and contractors. Act as a liaison between customers, engineering, sales and production.

20%Assist Simpson Engineers with test reports, technical letters, custom hanger designs, Strong-Wall® and Strong Frame® technical support and various special projects.

10%Provide cost analysis and value engineering on various special projects.

Education & Certification Requirements

Required or PreferredDegree or Certification

RequiredHigh School Diploma or GED

PreferredAssociate or Bachelor degree

PreferredCertificate in drafting

DraftingInterpret and understand mechanical drawings and drafting standards, create and revise drawings using AutoCad and/or Inventor

CommunicationAbility to read, interpret, and write documents such as technical emails, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees across all departments in the organization.

LearningAbility to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret charts and graphs.

MathematicsAbility to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret charts and graphs.

Computer SkillsMust be proficient in computer data input using Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel, Access and Smartsheet or similar programs with the ability to learn new programs as needed

This full-time, non-exempt position is located in Stockton, CA.
