Associate Design Engineer – Composite Strengthening Systems

The Simpson Strong-Tie Composite Strengthening Systems (CSS) engineering group is focused on delivering services and support to both internal and external customers in innovative ways. The Associate CSS Design Engineer will interface with Simpson employees as well as external customers including Engineers, Architects and Contractors in order to provide consultation for the design, development and implementation of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) products and systems to meet the project need. After gaining an understanding of the project need, the Associate CSS Design Engineer will develop a solution in conjunction with other staff engineers and be responsible for delivery of projects back to requestor. Additionally, the Associate CSS Design Engineer will provide staff engineers with direction and training as needed to complete projects.
Recognized as a valued technical resource to our customers. Recommends alterations and enhancements to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Demonstrates knowledge in a variety of FRP design/application concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

25%Provide technical and application support to internal customers for Simpson Strong-Tie Composite Strengthening Systems
25%Coordinate with design professionals and contractors to provide feasibility studies, design and installation support for their projects
25%Coordinate project tasks with staff engineers including design, take-off, shop drawing creation
15%Additional tasks as directed by the Engineering Manager, Composite Strengthening Systems or by the Director of Engineering, ICI
10%Provide training to staff engineers as well evaluation of processes and procedures in pursuit of continual improvement
Education & Certification Requirements:
Required or PreferredDegree or Certification
RequiredBachelors of Science in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering from a four-year college or university
RequiredCertification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
PreferredLicensed Civil or Structural Engineer (P.E. or S.E.)
